A major constraint to the improvement of higher education in Vietnam is the availability of suitable resources for both the teacher and the student. Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Course Ware (OCW) are innovations in delivering curricula and teaching materials that have been adopted by a number of American and European universities.
VNF works with Vietnamese universities to strengthen competitiveness of Vietnamese graduates in the global job market.
The Vietnamese government has an ambitious plan to educate 20,000 new PhD’s by 2020. These new PhD’s would staff the leading Vietnamese universities. While this long-term plan will help, it will not address the immediate needs of the country for better quality education to meet Vietnam’s growing demand.
The Vietnam Foundation, through its work with the U.S. National Academies, brings the expertise of the U.S. academic community to assist Vietnam in the field of education. The Vietnam Foundation strengthens a network of partnerships in education in Vietnam and in the United States.
